CARING FOR YOUR DIAMOND JEWELRY
If you want your diamond to sparkle, clean it frequently.
Ultrasonic cleaning, which literally vibrates the dirt off your
jewelry, is easiest and works best. (Avoid ultrasonic cleaning
if your jewelry contains colored gemstones or pearls.)
You can also clean your jewelry by hand with a solution of
two parts warm water and one part sudsy ammonia. Let the
jewelry soak for at least ten minutes, then scrub top and
underneath with a soft-bristled brush. (A medium toothbrush
works fine.) Rinse with warm water and dry with a lint-free cloth.
Most people dont realize that diamonds and their settings need
a professional check-up at least once a year. At Sydney Rosen,
your annual check-up is always free. Well give your jewelry a
professional cleaning and polishing, check the condition of your
stones and make sure the setting is tight.
While diamonds are the hardest natural substance, theyre hardly
the toughest. If you wear a diamond ring, beware of sharp blows that can
damage your stone. Remember, too, that diamonds can scratch other gemstones
and precious metals. Store diamond jewelry in a cloth pouch, away from
other diamonds and gemstones.
